Rep. Goforth was named the “2006 Legislator of the Year” by the North Carolina Housing Coalition.

Rep. Goforth was the first legislator to request Governor Easley to cap the gas tax.

HB 108 - Hurricane Recovery Act of 2005 - established recovery programs and directed $247.5 million dollars toward the efforts.

HB 630 - Manufactured Homes Escrow Accounts - requires that buyer deposits be held in an escrow account until acceptance of the home - protects buyers in case the sellers goes out of business.

HB 1248 - Identity Theft Protection Act of 2005 - Prohibits business from using an individuals Social Security number for a variety of purposes.  Also provides that a consumer can request security freeze only by certified mail.  Provides policies that businesses must abide by for the destruction of personal information records.  Allows for protection from security breaches.

HB 1896 - Sex Offender Registration Changes - strengthens the laws regarding the sex offender and public protection registration programs - was recommended by House Select Committee on Sex Offender Registration Laws - which I co-chaired. 

HB 1965 - Eminent Domain Restrictions - Restricts the statutory purposes for which eminent domain may be used by private condemnors, local public condemnors and other public conndemnors and for certain revenue bond projects - was recommended by the House Select Committee on Eminent
Domain Powers - which I co-chaired.

HB 2882 - General Contractor/Extend License Validity - allows the State Licensing Board of General Contractors to extend the period in which a license remains in effect after a person licensed on behalf of a firm or corporation ceases to be associated with that firm or corporation.

HB 2883 - Protect Military Veterans from Identity Theft - prohibits a consumer reporting agency from charging a fee to a veteran for requesting, temporarily lifting, or removing a freeze on consumer credit reports.
